Vajra (Tib.: Dorje)
The Diamond Sceptre
The vajra is the quintessential symbol of the 'Diamond vehicle' or Vajrayana Buddhist path.
The vajra as a ritual implement (used by Vajrayana practitioners) is held
in the right hand and symbolises powerful and compassionate method. When used in combination with the bell (Tib.: ghanta) in the left hand, they represent the perfect union of method and wisdom, male and female.
The vajra essentially symbolises the indestructable state of enlightenment or Buddhahood. When used double (crossed), the vajra represents absolute stability.

Vajra (Tib.: Dorje)
De Diamanten Scepter
De vajra is het voornaamste symbool van het 'Diamanten voertuig', ofwel het Boeddhistische Vajrayana-pad.
De vajra als ritueel instrument wordt gehouden in de rechterhand en symboliseert een krachtig en meedogend handelen. Wanneer hij wordt gebruikt in combinatie met de bel (Tib.: ghanta) in de linkerhand, vertegenwoordigen ze de perfecte eenheid van methode en wijsheid, het mannelijke en vrouwelijke.
Wanneer de vajra dubbel gebruikt wordt (gekruist), vertegenwoordigd deze de absolute stabiliteit van de geest.

De Geheime Geest, het Alwetende, het Absolute Bewustzijn van alle Boeddha's.
